A documentary that highlights the importance of grief care—supporting those who are mourning and helping them heal—through the experiences of people who have suffered profound loss and those who dedicate themselves to caring for their hearts and minds.
This documentary follows individuals dedicated to grief care, while also sharing the stories of those who have experienced profound loss: families who lost their children in a tragic elementary school attack, a Buddhist monk providing emotional support to survivors of the Great East Japan Earthquake, parents who suddenly lost a child to illness, and a woman facing her husband's suicide while battling a serious illness of her own.
Through interviews with those who have lived through overwhelming grief, the film emphasizes the power of listening, sharing, and validating their pain. It explores—through multiple perspectives—why grief care is more needed than ever in today’s society.
Directed by Yutaka Nakamura (Setouchi Jakucho: What I Learned from 99 Years of Life), with narration by acclaimed actress Mikiko Otonashi.
